What a nightmare. I downloaded the new software. And now my RealPlayer won't connect to the internet. PLUS... I can't find a place on the RealPlayer website to download the former version that really worked. This is horrible.
Please, think twice about downloading this version until it is de-bugged.

Terrible experience, I didn't know which version was the new RealPlayer and you guys are always trying to sell the SuperPass and the RealPlayer Plus, is very difficult to find the Free Player, and when you get the link you don't know if it is the Player beta with the Download feature.
Then the worst part, I thought I've downloaded the bet Player and then I saw that I've downloaded the old version, I can't find the new one.
What a terrible experience. I found the link to the beta Player on the UK realGuide.

Great player, great features, as always.
Other than that I completely agree with the other comments, trying to actually find the actual download link was a pain. And I ended up downloading it at the UK realGuide...
Other than that I thinks its a great player.

Hmm... the beta doesn't appear to play mp4's. The other formats appear to work fine, though.

2 bugs that really need to be fixed!
Realplayer 11 Beta disables Aero skin in Windows Vista!
When viewing Real content on web pages like http://www.nfl.com/ I lose the Aero skin on Windows Vista. This happens with both Realplayer 10 and the Beta Realplayer 11.
I hope this will be fixed.
AND
Turning Volume down in Realplayer 11 Beta but still hear sound! Windows Vista
On Windows Vista not sure about XP if I turn down the Volume all the way in Realplayer 11 beta I still can hear the sound. If I click on the Windows mixer I can turn off the Realplayer volume there.
The problem is when you move the volume all the way to the left in "realplayer 10 or 11" and then check the realplayer volume in the "windows mixer" you can see that the volume is not all the way off. Thats why I still hear sound.
So the problem is simple turning down the Volume in Realplayer does not turn off sound 100% in Windows Vista.
Can this be fixed? I know this must be a bug becasue No other media player has this issue including Rhapsody 4.0.

The "Grab Flash, etc. Video" functionality doesn't work in Safari for Windows (latest beta).

i dunno about aero cuz i dont have drivers for that.

If you're having trouble capturing video from real Player 11, or if you want to edit or convert for portable devices, check out Replay A/V, WM Recorder or Replay Media Catcher. While these are not free, these programs do an excellent job of capturing streaming video and audio.
Posted by: Bill Dettering | June 26, 2007 at 07:23 AM
I work for a big media company at Latin America, and I don't want the users to easily download my streaming content, so how can I disable this functionality so the Reaplayr doesn't offer this option for my videos.
I saw that you guys do this on several videos at the RealGuide, disabling the recording button.
Where can I find documentation about it?
thanks

wow, there are a lot of comments flying in. I will try to answer questions as often as possible.
Vista - We currently have a few Vista related bugs, the most visible being the disabled Aero skin. We are working on them and you should see better Vista support in the next beta release.
Due the variety of ways to implement video on the web, it is impossible for our download feature to work on every site. However, that does not mean that we can't try to fix it. So please send us the site URL that does not work at http://deploy.ztelligence.com/start/survey/survey_taking.jsp?PIN=13953GPUUD2S9
This beta version only supports Windows XP and Vista and IE6, IE7, and Firefox 2.0. Support for Mac, Linux and Safari will be available before the end of the year.
Thanks for the feedback.

Bill Dettering,
We are both out to increase the consumption of video and while we have different approaches and philosophies to the downloading of web video, lets keep posts to this blog about the new RealPlayer and the video industry. We encourage competition because it moves the industry forward and allows users to see how much better and easier the new RealPlayer is compared to your products, but please do not use our blog to pitch your products.

Antonio,
The only way to protect your content from being downloaded is implement a DRM solution. The new RealPlayer respects DRM and will not download protected content.
Matt Spragins
Posted by: Matt Spragins | June 26, 2007 at 09:59 AM
Breaking news to content providers: Users are ALREADY downloading your videos to stream them. The true protection would be using DRM on whatever format you are using.
Check download sites for "flash video" or "flv" you will see hundreds of titles, freeware/open source/shareware or Adware on any operating system you can imagine. "Adware" is the thing should bother you, they are doing all kinds of things to your viewers computers over your content. Realplayer is at least (thanks to new management), a credible software title bound to privacy policy.
I wonder about some other format videos which the producer asks $30 to "save as source". I am afraid of starting a war here, media people already know what I speak about. The famous "pay $30 to display full screen" software.
Having "copyrighted content", "don't allow save" flags in file spec/ running World's most popular trailer site and ignoring those flags is a thing to discuss but not here, not on this blog.

Wow, I like this bug! Personally I hate Aero Glass, Windows Classic owns all.
Posted by: Webmeba | June 26, 2007 at 12:32 PM
Recording from YouTube is easy. Recording from most other sites is a coin toss. I could not record streaming video from c-span.org nor the regular recorded video from uwtv.com.
Ran into problems with the pause/resume where it stopped working when I ran out of disk space. It would be nice to know how much disk space is left while downloading. Also, not all video tells you how much disk space it takes up while downloading. Actually, I would like to know before I press the download button.
The player itself needs its own record button. The VCR buttons don't work correctly when trying to record from within the player.
I don't see a way to convert video format, only audio and this is a plus feature.
Posted by: Rob | June 26, 2007 at 12:39 PM
I changed all media to run in realplayer. But when recording a Windows Media video it only recorded & played sound. There was no video. It did play fine in the latest version of WMP.
Posted by: Rob | June 26, 2007 at 12:41 PM
Recording from inside realplayer is a big pain. We lose the consistency of the Download & Recording Manager. It's difficult to know if its recording despite the red or blinking light. All recording should be consistent and displayed in the manager. That way one could watch the same type of progress in downloading from outside the player. We lose the ability to record and then move on while recording if we are in the player.
The better design is a big red button up top that says record. Depressing the record button pops-up the Recording Manager. Keep the player as a player and don't confuse us - even the experienced.

Any plans to let mac users in on the downloading fun?

I tried to advance part way through a streaming audio file. This worked very well in the previous version. First time I tried in this version it just sat there in 'loading' state forever. Second and subsequent times it found the start point and played nothing but silence!
How do I switch off the RealGuide? I want my RealPlayer back to a small size. Most of the time I don't need/want Now Playing, My Library etc. even showing as options
Posted by: Nigel Shipley | June 26, 2007 at 02:40 PM
Rob,
Thanks for the feedback on the sites. We will look at them and include bug fixes in the next update.
As for your comment on the file size, it is sometimes difficult to predict the size of a streaming file, so we did not include that as part of the UI.
We are working to make the in-player download/record feature similar to the web download feature but need to work around some technical difficulties first.
We plan to offer video conversion in our beta 2 update.

I downloaded a couple vids from YouTube and Google and they downloaded flawlessly. The download tabs worked without a hitch, but playback is a different story. All the vids played back very choppy and out of sync.
I meet/exceed minimum requirements, running Windows XP sp2, 512mb ram, 1.6 GHz P4 etc...
Any ideas on a fix on my end to improve the playback? The player looks nice and the download feature is very cool but playback is disappointing.

LOVE IT.....I've already recorded a few items off UTube I've wanted forever. This thing is so cool, I think I'll sign up for the pay player just to say thank you!

PS...I have a 64Bit Windows Vista Ultimate system loaded to the hilt and downloaded video is playing beautifully.

PPS......Vista Aero is disabled. That is a bit of a surprise. It does revert back once the player is shut down.
I agree this should be adressed. Vista has been on the market for almost 6 months now.

I'm not sure where to post this bug, but it looks like a high-priority one, so I'm doing it here: Adobe Flex content STOPS WORKING on both Firefox and IE after RealPlayer is installed. I disabled the RP plug-in and Flex content started working again.
To reproduce this problem yourself, simply install RP Beta and visit any Flex-enabled site: For example: http://beta.boulevardr.com .Also try http://www.picnik.com (click on the "getting started" button). Or visit any showcased Flex application: http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/showcase/index.cfm?event=finder&productid=26724&loc=en_us

Since upgrading to a Windows Vista machine I have been unable to transfer songs to my Palm T3 and also unable to play songs purchased on RealPlayer Music Store on my Palm. This has been the situation with both the latest version RealPlayer v10 and this beta version 11. Is this a known issue which the beta is going to address?
Posted by: Doug | June 26, 2007 at 07:06 PM
Matt,
I'm a long time consultant. I know it's only beta 1. The more feedback I get to you the better chance of success for your users. A very clean UI and consistency will go a long way. Beta 1 users have to realize the pain before the gain.

I'm a free user I noticed when i choose Guide and attempt to use "radio" I have a few seconds before the ad starts any other feature does not launch this. Now I did notice as the developer did say it did load faster and it's actually a better dvd player then Windvd 6 or WMP 11. Also it has a new feature that allows you to record clips by hitting the red button, there are even sections on the guide that ask would you like to record this or play? So I'll keep it, but my stream of music choice will continue to come from Winamp with the AOL Radio with XM & Shoutcast. So on a score of 1-10, I'll rate the product a (9) only because I think the ad feature should only kick in when it notices no activity.

Couldn't get this software off of my system quick enough. What are Real playing at? Still not Vista compatible. A complete joke.
Apart from the above ridiculous state of affairs, my Real Player Plus subscription no longer works in Real Player 11. I've already had to pay twice for Plus - once for Real One Player and again with the release of Real Player 10. If they expect me to pay a 3rd time Real Player will not be installed on my system ever again.
Keep going Real, your doing a good job at loosing loyal customers this way.
Thankfully, WMP in Vista works flawlessly and offers me everything Real Player 10 did, and, at NO EXTRA COST for a graphic equaliser. Which, I might add, should be standard these days.

For some reason, I do not get the ability to download flash videos. Is there a particular setting that I must implement?
Posted by: Michael | June 28, 2007 at 08:46 PM
When will the final version of RealPlayer 11 be released not the buggy beta builds but a more stable build and less bugs with some bugs fixed like the disabling Aero bug. Since the beta builds expire in 120 days after installation does that mean you have to update to the final version or another beta?

About the new RealPlayer...
The download manager is a great (almost only) new feature in this version.
The ability to download any streaming media format is a function that is good for private people, but is bad for service providers.
I remember the days when Real was fighting against the companies that provided streaming media download applications, but things have changed. There is a new thing called DRM and Real hasn't got quite a big market share (due to it's really closed DRM implementation) in it.
Since DRM could be a good solution for copyright problems I would still advice to implement some kind of Copyright notice in RealPlayer. For example a notice, that this content is copyrighted.
Except the download manager not much has changed since RealPlayer 10, and Real One Player. Real is still doing his angry marketing with SuperPass, and RealPlayer Plus. It would be a really good thing to have the possibility to completely disable the RealMessage Center and stop realshed.exe startup up, also to disable the annoying RealPlayer Plus messages. Remember that still nowadays not everyone has an Internet connection, and only a new window with IE's error message doesn't say too much to the user when clicking on Crossfade.
The new skin looks good, but if you compare it to WindowsMedia Player 11, it looks exactly the same. And the menus use up so much space, that there is simply no way to resize the player to compact mode or the size of a video. The possibility to remove the Music, Video and Games buttons would help on this issue, but again Real won't do this.
Harmony has been one of the new features of RealPlayer 10.5, and still it's not so hormonal. When connecting an iPod nano the song names just shuffles up on the iPod and still that disgusting iPod settings dialog box haven't been fixed.
There are still files from the original Real One Player, like: videotest.rm, waiting.avi and getmedia folder etc…
A really nice feature would be video/audio conversions. Converting a RealVideo to AVI (or any other format...) would also be nice.
And finally a bug... When and older version of a RealPlayer was installed and removed, the new RealPlayer wouldn’t work. You have to use the r1puninst.exe to make the new version work.
Posted by: My name is... | July 01, 2007 at 09:23 AM
The skin? To me, it's WMP 11 with an improvement.
Posted by: Mike | July 03, 2007 at 11:26 AM
I love the new Player except for one reason. The video capture will work from Internet Explorer; but not from AOL. If I go to YouTube from explorer I can download the video. If I close explorer and open AOL then go to YouTube and open the same video or any other I do not get the button to download the video. Any way of fixing this?
Posted by: John Russell | July 05, 2007 at 01:00 PM
Nice improvements (on Windows XP Pro) --
* video capture works without a hitch so far
* the new cleaner "look and feel"
* the tabs, navigation generally
* new Help a big improvement already over previous version
* quicker installation
* thumbnail view for video
"Could use improvement" --
* Why a Games tab? Why is that a navigation destination equal to My Library and Real Guide?
* burned VCD of low resolution/quality.
* tried to burn DVD, but RP crashed.
Posted by: LC Brents | July 09, 2007 at 09:25 AM
Bought the Beta Plus so that I can burn my many RM files to DVD. The only problem is that it will only burn about 71 minutes (306mb) on a 4.7 GB DVD+R 120 minutes. These are accurate numbers because an 18 second (8mb) file cannot be added.
Also, will future versions handle recording DVDs at various qualities automatically like Roxio does?
Posted by: Jeff Mc | July 10, 2007 at 02:46 PM
I am dissapointed by the fact that the player volume adjustment slider still modifies the "wave" slider from the global audio properties (I'm using Windows XP SP2) - which is quite annoying when you exit RealPlayer and find out the volume setting remains too low/loud for other applications.
Also, the "Download" functionality doesn't work in Opera (tested with v
9.21) which is a big thumbs down for me. On the other hand, the player seems to handle pretty well the flv files downloaded from YouTube - I can't say the same thing about other players, even VLC.
It will be nice to see a video "image crop" function - for those of us who are playing the video content on wide screen displays.

Ever since I had it installed Adobe Flash Player 9 and 8 (I tried other versions to troubleshoot) crash randomly even while my computer was "sitting still" and I was not at my desk. It happened twice. I think it is because of this RealPlayer add-on since I did not have the problem before. I disabled the add-on and testing to see if it happens again, probably will not, but it is hard to tell.
I love the add-on, but random crashing is not acceptable. I lost my work a few times.
Posted by: Gargantula | July 15, 2007 at 03:52 PM
Even if you have an active subscription for
RealPlayer Plus, forget about it. RealPlayer
11 beta will not allow you to use the "plus"
extensions. Signing in and out, or doing
whatever you can find ot their site will not work. The ONLY THING you can do is to shell out more money and to buy a new subscription.
At least, the company should disclose this
fact on their website.

I installed Real Player 11 & suddenly Flex-made applications are not working properly!
example:
http://examples.adobe.com/flex2/consulting/styleexplorer/Flex2StyleExplorer.html
seems to have something to do with the hideous file copying system you've added.
If I uninstall RP11, the Flex-made apps work fine again.

HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE! First, I use to be able to play all videos effortlessly; now, I am reduced to spotty audio and freezing video which ultimately ends up out of sync. Second, where is the freaking original player...I want it back! I use to be able to type a word document, watch a video and download, using a torrent, now I can barely watch a video and if click on the start menu...I better watch out your d*&$ video player will shut itself down and probably take my soul with it. Anyway, this beta version is the DEVIL!

Posted by: real player plus? | August 05, 2007 at 04:00 AM
As with previous upgrades of RealPlayer Plus, you will need to purchase a new RealPlayer Plus license when you upgrade to RealPlayer 11 if you want to keep using the Plus features. If you purchased your RealPlayer 10.5 Plus account within the last 7 months you will automatically be upgraded to RealPlayer 11 Plus. RealPlayer 11 Plus is the best plus yet with DVD burning and in Q4 we will add some very compelling features that will allow you to take your downloaded videos anywhere.

Hello. I installed Real Player 11 Beta on my Vista Ultimate machine and had no problems.. until.. I turned the video performance/quality slider all the way to quality.
When I did this the screen started flashing and I had all kinds of issues. I ended up having to uninstall Real Player. Ever since this my screen keeps flashing shortly after Vista logs in and it says Display Driver Failed in a popup on the toolbar. Is there some dlls or something that Real Player leaves behind after uninstall that I can remove?
It seems to be in conflit with my Nvidia display driver. I reinstalled the Nvidia drivers and it made the machine work for a day and now its back to doing the same thing again.
Posted by: GC | August 08, 2007 at 12:43 AM
Thanks for reporting these problems. The slider issue on Vista is a known problem that will be fixed in an upcoming update. The driver failure is a new issue and our engineers are looking into it.

Have you had other reports of the driver failure?

Hello, to whom it may concern. I downloaded the new realplayer beta on my computer last night, August 10, 2007, and it crashed my hdd. When it was playing for about 10 min, I was watching one of the movie clips on there called the outlaw. They were talking but their mouth wasn't moving! I had all the system requirments it asked for, now what? Then all of a sudden it crashed, boy am I mad!
Posted by: Beverly | August 11, 2007 at 10:28 AM
Why doesn't real player resize even thou "automatically resize clip when playback begins" is checked?
Also why is the player so big? why cant the "music" "video" "games" "my library" "burn/transfer" just be icons so that way i can resise it to make the player smaller.
And what happened to "on startup display: Player only" option?
Heres an example of a modified player i did in photoshop:
http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/6048/justanexamplepy2.jpg
Im a big fan of realplayer i liked the previous v10 but v11 is too big.
Posted by: john | August 15, 2007 at 11:42 AM
I like the basic look of the new beta, but there are a few annoyances. The player cannot be made narrow (smaller) in "Normal" mode. Toolbar mode is great, but there is no way to adjust volume. At one point, when I went back to normal mode from toolbar, the display was blank with a "loading page" message. I could still hear the stream (and adjust the audio), but it would only display if I switched to toolbar or theatre modes.
Now if you could just get it to save my many thousands of RAX files to my new iPod (with album art)...

I could not play a CD while working on the computer without RealPlayer asking me if I wanted to go in the Internet and find out more about this artist. A wretched piece of software, so why should I try its successor?

I'm trying to use this new Beta version, but it's much worser than the old Realplayer. My biggest problem are the autoplaylists. It forgets, or doesen't see my music ratings, and says, all autoplaylists are empty. It's quite annoying. Playlist are workig, I just have problems with auto palylists.

Is there a way to change the black background color in 11 beta? Not the skin or visualization, like a color chooser. If so, would be nice to have one for the final release (out of beta). Thanks.
Posted by: Dave | November 04, 2007 at 01:12 PM
In the beta, you cannot use compact mode unless you sign up for the paying option. How come this was taken away when 10.5 allowed compact mode for free? Don't know if that is right. Will there be compact mode in the free 11 final release version?

Horrible. I installed the beta version and if I click on either the libray tab or the burn tab my computer crashes. "Bad Pool Header" is what it says at the top of the page after it crashes. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times but still does not work. How do I get an earlier version back?
Posted by: Bruce | November 08, 2007 at 12:32 AM
I have always liked using RealPlayer and I generally prefer it to other players for most media. Over the course of a dozen years, I have almost never had a problem with it. The new features for RP(win32) Version 11 (Beta Build: 6.0.14.552) seem to be great. My problems are these:
* Playback of songs and other audio that is archived on my hard drive: It skips. I'm not sure what adjustments I could make to correct this problem, but it's a real nuisance.
* Streaming live radio station audio: As I write this, I am listening to a radio station audio stream. Half an hour ago, I needed to walk away from the computer to do something else. I paused the stream so, upon return, I could pick up on the broadcast where I left off. My LivePause is set to enable pausing & seeking within live internet clips for 3 hours (my typical setting; never had a problem with it in earlier versions of RP). When I turned my stream back on, I CAN hear my audio quite clearly. However, underneath it I can hear (what shall I call them) stuttering audio artifacts of the current stream. Yet another annoyance.
I doubt that I am the only user experiencing these difficulties (but I'm certainly willing to be convinced otherwise). Assuming I am not alone, I REALly need to know how to solve these problems or be reassured from the folks at RealNetworks that they are doing something about this and intend to offer a better version of the new player once it gets out of beta mode.
Anyone got any thoughts or recommendations? They will be greatly appreciated.

Recently downloaded version 11 of Realplayer and I wish I hadn't. The old version was much better. This new version is totally buggy. The database is continually getting corrupted, and I have major problems adding new files to the database. How do I get the old version back?
Posted by: Adam | November 24, 2007 at 11:01 PM
Why would you do this? I've been a big fan of the real player for a long time and now you come up with this gigantic look for it that takes up half the screen. I DON'T WANT TO SEE THE REAL GUIDE or any of the other stuff. They get on my nerves!
I just want the playlist and the player, THAT'S IT!!! I really wish I hadn't updated to RealPlayer 11.

can anyone tell me what is wrong with my realplayer? i was watching a video on dvd like i always do, but today it started to go wrong it can't show the video but the audio is fine anyone got ideas whats causing it or what is wrong it keeps telling me to download a update but there is no update to download
Posted by: waion | November 26, 2007 at 11:30 AM
Horrible. I want my old version back. I installed the free new version. Now, whenever I watch video clips in avi, mpg, rmvb formats, there is always a black background which makes the picture quite dark and there is no way to change that. The new version only works well with wmv format video clips.
Posted by: FK | November 26, 2007 at 07:40 PM
Search your files for real you may still have the original download for RP, if so drag out the file "real player set up file" delete everything else which refers to real player save the real player set up file & run it after you remove everything else. You'll be starting all over so copy your favs before removing it and presto you will get the old version back and you can update it without the running the new version. Thats what I did anyways and it is the old format again.

I have some problems with version 11:
For one, when viewing my library, if I click a song to play it, I am automatically switched to the "now playing" window. But, sometimes I want to continue browsing my library.
Also, You cannot detach/attach your browser/library (like you can do your playlist) from the media player like in Version 10, except if you view the player as a toolbar at the bottom of the screen (not for free -- PLUS).
And, even when the player is minimized into its smallest mode, the player is still quite large -- at least twice as large as it used to be.
Apart from the Flash Video Options, I like Version 10 alot better (even the green color).

RealPlayer 11 is UTTERLY HORRIBLE :
1) I can no longer detach the player from the Media Browser. *HATE IT*
2) When 'reduced' the size of the player is tripple the width; video's play with a massive black block each side which will not reduce to 'normal'. *HATE IT*
3) Why oh Why are all the tabs fixed on the player - rather than simple small buttons {as per the bottom of version 10, which opens the Media Browser, Real Guide, My Library}.
>>> 4) PLEASE would software companies STOP releasing software which has large numbers of bugs.. BECAUSE IT DRIVES US MAD.

We operate 300+ websites that rely on RealPlayer. WE ARE SWITCHING TO FLASH BECAUSE OF STUNTS LIKE RP11! RealNetworks should be ashamed for listening to Rob instead of delivering a product that works. Face it, you aren't Apple. But at least don't screw with you faithfuls who rely on your technology and release software that works.
RealPlayer 11 is the biggest load of non-working trash I have seen in years. HOW DARE YOU FORCE USERS TO UPGRADE TO THIS CRAP! Yeah, it can play Rhapsody songs, but it cannot even begin to stream a 2 hour long film... it just hangs every time to you try to use the slidebar. OMG I could scream. I have spent DAYS trying to figure out a workaround to the bugs in this nitemare release. Now we lose business and money because of your dreams of glittery press releases.
FIX IT FAST AND REDEEM YOURSELVES!! SPEND SOME OF YOUR BILLION DOLLAR RESERVE ON QA!!

To Yuki.. {and anyone else}
The following instructions are set out in very simple steps, because I don't know how familiar you are with your computer. {Print it out}
In regard to your problems:
1) Delete RealPlayer via Windows 'add or remove programs'.
2) Go into your 'My Documents' window, right click the space next to the Menus and choose 'Customise'. Add the Icon showing a folder with a tick {Folder Options}.
3) Click on the new icon 'Folder Options' and choose 'View'. Then check the box 'Show hidden files and folders' and save OK.
4) Now Go to 'My Computer' and go into 'Local Disk C'. When opened click 'Program Files' and delete the file 'Real'.
5) Now go back a step to 'Local Disc C' and click on folder 'My Downloads' {If Real is in there then delete it}.
6) Go back to 'Local Disc C' and click on 'Documents and settings'. Then click the file with your name on it.
7) Now you will see a shaded (formally hidden) 'Application Data' Folder. Scroll down the page and delete the 'Real' folder.
8) Now close all windows and Restart your computer.
9) In the 'My Documents' page on your computer click 'Folder Options' again and in the 'View' tab re-hide the hidden folders.
10) Now navigate on the internet to the 'RealPlayer 10.5 link' http://proforma.real.com/real/player/blackjack.html
and install RealPlayer 10.5.
11) YOU MUST DISABLE automatic updates in RealPlayer Preferences - Because you don't want RealPlayer 11 until a time of your choice.. {When we all sing and dance and tell the web community that RealPlayer 11 is working}.
12) Finally play your favourite video clip.
Lots of programs have hidden folders that hang about after an uninstall, so remember the folder options icon to reveal them - but DO NOT delete anything that you are unfamiliar with, because it could have *catastrophic* consequences! {the above is safe}.
Last of all empty your recycle bin. {preferably you have 'McAfee Internet Security' and you can shred the recycle bin contents for good measure.}
P.S. Now leave your computer and have a cup of coffee and a cake. This will help you to relax and forget that you ever heard of RealPlayer 11 ;-)

i also installed RP v11 and wot a big let down it really is, for years i swore by real player, it never let me down once but this v11 is total rubbish. the user interface is very impressive and it is very easy to use. it just unfortunatly at the start of every song i try to play, the player skips a few secs or freeze's for about 10 to 15 secs so you toaly miss out on the start of every song, its not playing my video songs anymore. v11 should not have been released untill all problems were sorted, im now looking for another media player to use for my jukebox i mite reinstall v10. my personal appinion is v10 is the best im glad i copied it to disk before upgrading

Bonjour ^^
i use real player on Leopard and vista premium frequently, i love the windows version and design is absolutly the best i've seen for a media player, you released the mac beta along with the windows final version , but i remember u sayin' that the mac final version will hit in the beginning of 2008.. so im wondering if u can be more accurate on when the mac final version will come out please.
i really hope the the mac version will be identical in term of design than the windows one, wos the mac beta is not very sexy , and lacks a lot of fonctionality compared to the windows beta mid 2007.
so can u give some infos about it, will it be close in fonctionalities to the windows version ? and will the look of RP 11 will be as great or similar the to windows one? and please give us atime frame for the final version to come out .
thanx for your job, and to the people who comes here to insult the dev team, can u at least understand that they certainly do the best they can to fix the bugs ... it takes time for a program to be bug free , XP now is a great exemple, but i remember all the comments i saw when XP was just released ,
i really hope u 'll give us Mac users some news soon, thanx ^^

This is truly a TERRIBLE version of Real Player. I upgraded and seem to have the same problems as everyone else. I loved the old version till the upgrade to v11.
Firstly the player minimised is huge? What's up with that? All my music and videos jumps and hangs when surfing. I also consulted with a friend with a paid version and he has exactly the same problems.
Seems the folks at Real were more concerned with releasing a fancy version without spending enough time TESTING the new version.
Can anyone recommend another decent working player?

You F--ers, after I shelled out to make a ONE TIME ONLY PURCHASE for Real Player Plus... it appears that is not the truth. What is this crap?? With every new version of R.P. are we (loyal R.P. users [I DO NOT LIKE Windows Media Player at all]) going to get shafted, tricked, and just plain lied to for all our long, loyal, and dedicated use of R.P.
...Really guys, I thought you (Rob) had more integrity as a company...and you've had the nerve to even DOUBLE the original price tag for R.P.Plus.
I'm sorry, but the features are not THAT impressive...not enough to so as to stoop to this kind of double-talk and overbearing advertising.
You restore MY Real Player Plus or you can be sure -as sure as you're reading this- that there will be letterS sent out to the BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU and any place else that will lend an ear to...DISABLED-HOUSEBOUND OXYGEN-DEPENDENT(24/7)-consumers living on fixed incomes.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

I am finding that whenever I open up Real Player 11, it automatically and instantly shuts down Windows Explorer (I use IE7 Windows Vista) and any other applications I am using. This has only just started to happen. Any fixes available?
Posted by: Jane Howard | August 07, 2008 at 02:43 AM
I have identified a serious issue under MSIE 6 and MSIE7 with RealPlayer 11. If a user has RealPlayer 11 installed and has set the "Enable Web Downloading & Recording" button during install (default option), our online multimedia courseware will freeze during playback of 2nd or 3rd multimedia file. Note that this happens when the user is playing multimedia under Windows Media Player NOT REAL PLAYER. So, Real Player is not even being instantiated.
I would like to find out how to disable the "download this video" popup in IE. I know I can just not check the Enable Web Downloading & Recording button, but I have too many users of my software and cannot have each one disable this.
I am not concerned about the downloading of videos, just the freezing of the browser when that popup displays. It does not happen when Real Player is selected as the media player, and it does not happen in Firefox because it uses Real Player.
Thank you for your help.

Real player 11 is to bulky and clumsy, takes up too much space on your desktop you can't resize it or change the skin. Picture quality is worse than previous versions as well.
I have gone back to version 10.5 and won't reinstall version 11 until real gets their act together and makes a better version and tests it before releasing it.
old versions can be found here....
