Realplayer Gold Version Released
By Matt Spragins, Director of Product, RealPlayer
On Thursday, November 15th, we launched the new
RealPlayer Gold version simultaneously in 10 languages as well as the Mac Beta
version. Now, around the world, consumers can control their internet video
viewing experience and even transfer it to an iPod with the Plus
version.
This commercial release version includes many customer experience improvements identified through the beta experience as well.
Please visit http://www.realplayer.com to download the new RealPlayer and upgrade to Plus to transfer your videos to DVD or your iPod.

There is either no browser plugin installed with version 11 or there is no browser plugin?? I use Windows Vista and the Firefox browser. I also tried it with IE7 but it didn't work... :(
Are there any special browser plugins i need to know about?

Why is my RealPlayer flashing ads at me at the bottom of my RealPlayer module? I've enjoyed using RealPlayer for years. But now I have flashing, distracting ads on my computer, downloaded from the internet Without My Permission. (I was not aware that your position of distributing Free software entitled you to also send Adware to my computer without first asking me to Opt-In.) From my search of the internet chat rooms, you have not provided an option to deactivate the ads. This is unacceptable. I am sad to turn my back on my longstanding relationship with your product, but I won't accept these flashing ads in the audio player I use for hours on end, every day. I'm removing RealPlayer from my computer and changing all my settings over to Windows Media Player.

Fedora 8 users will have noticed that OSS (the old sound system) drivers have been removed from 2.6.23 kernels. This means that the ancient Realplayer10 implementation no longer works on newish Linux systems. How about a new build of Realplayer that uses ALSA please?

What a MISERABLE UI. So, you're now "Cool" (in the 1980's sense) with a black background, and tiny, tiny menu text. I hate to tell you, but that's virtually unreadable to many of us who are older than 25. And, then, you decide, without my permission, to limit how small I may make the play on my desktop. I used to play it as a small application on my desk; now you dominate it (unless I manually minimize it).
This GUI is a net reversal in usability, and I HATE IT!

Internet media players to have channels, and easy and fast channel-switching capabilities
For example if you go to http://idesitv.com/, then you see lots of Indian tv channels, but switching from one to another, requires closing of current window, opening new one, etc. But this can be made more TV-like, ie switching of channels, should be done, with single pressing of a key. Also, there is too much time lag between switching between two channels. But in TV, switching from one channel to another, the switch is instantaneous, and there is no Buffering needed by the media player.

How about a Linux update instead? Us Linux users could really appreciate an updated version.I want to like Real. I really really want to like Real. In fact the Linux stuff is allot better than anything released for Mac/Windows. I tried the commercial audio plug-in and now it no longer works (or it didn't) for newer versions of Firefox. So much for Linux support.

I upgraded my RealPlayer to 11.0.1 and now it will not recognize my external cd/dvd drive. How can I get it corrected?

When is real player releasing a new update for the "BADWARE" status they have on StopBadware.org?
Posted by: Nelson | February 01, 2008 at 10:20 AM
Dang, when I got to amazon and try to listen to the music previews I only get very useless error messages instead of sound.
The realplayer says something about an update it seems to need to play the songs (huh, why is that?), but fails do update itself due to having not enough rights.
But even if I start Realplayer as admin with full UAC rights, it fails to update itself.
And I found no way to download updates manually, so I'm stuck with a realplayer that aint working. Not good.

The linux version would not run under Ubuntu. There seem to be no instructions to get RealPlayer to install.

Bonjour ^^
i use real player on Leopard and vista premium frequently, i love the windows version and design is absolutly the best i've seen for a media player, you released the mac beta along with the windows final version , but i remember u sayin' that the mac final version will hit in the beginning of 2008.. so im wondering if u can be more accurate on when the mac final version will come out please.
i really hope the the mac version will be identical in term of design than the windows one, wos the mac beta is not very sexy , and lacks a lot of fonctionality compared to the windows beta mid 2007.
so can u give some infos about it, will it be close in fonctionalities to the windows version ? and will the look of RP 11 will be as great or similar the to windows one? and please give us atime frame for the final version to come out .
thanx for your job, and to the people who comes here to insult the dev team, can u at least understand that they certainly do the best they can to fix the bugs ... it takes time for a program to be bug free , XP now is a great exemple, but i remember all the comments i saw when XP was just released ,
i really hope u 'll give us Mac users some news soon, thanx ^^

Where is a full download of RP11 Gold? I avoid "installer" versions of all applications and only deploy full versions. There was one in the past, but it seems to be only the installer version now. Really annoying.

Can't install the Free Real Player 11 GOLD. When I try I get "you currently do not have Administrative access to the windows registry . See administrator to download Real Player"
I have checked many blogs and there are countless numbers having the same problem. with no resolve mentioned anywhere.
The download works great and I have it saved on my drive.....It is the installation where the error message appears.

real v11 gold sucks. I have been trying to download the new version but it dsn't run. I can't go back to to v 10, so now I have vids that won't run. So I figure i'll have to pay Divx to get the software to run the the Real vids. good for Divx, bad for Real

Real asks for admin privileges every time I start it, after clicking no to adding the user agent to the login items. This shouldn't be necessary. It should be utterly clear why an application asks for your password. Clearly, saying "no" to adding a login item is not a good reason

I've used Real for years and years and years....but upon upgrading to Firefox 3 and now 3.1, I've a dead plugin: Realplay Browser Record. I cannot update it, install it or remove it. I reinstalled 11 - same problem. WHEN are you going to fix this?
Thank you.
