Want to keep track of who are the top artists in Rhapsody? Subscribe to the Top Artists RSS feed: http://feeds.rhapsody.com/artist-chart.rss. We've also got feeds for the Top Albums or Top Tracks.
Want to know about all the new music that's being added to Rhapsody? Subscribe to the Just Added RSS feed: http://feeds.rhapsody.com/just-added.rss. Or maybe you just want to know about new Trip Hop albums. We've got a feed for that too: http://feeds.rhapsody.com/electronicadance/downtempo/triphop/just-added.rss. We've also got feeds for Staff Jazz Picks or Most Popular Electropop Tracks or Top Hip Hop Artists.
Speaking of Hip Hop, want to know whenever Eminem releases a new album? Subscribe to the Eminem Discography RSS feed: http://feeds.rhapsody.com/eminem/discography.rss and we'll update it as soon as a new album comes out. Or want to be notified whenever a new track shows up in Pink Floyd's The Wall? Subscribe to the track feed: http://feeds.rhapsody.com/pinkfloyd/thewall/tracks.rss and you'll be the first to know about that hot new bonus track!
Okay, that last one is a bit far-fetched, but hey, it just might happen. Even if the feed never changes, I know some of you will still find it useful. Since all the items point to RhapLinks, you can start music playing by opening any of the items in your feed reader. Then your feed reader (or My Yahoo page, or personalized Google/Live homepage) becomes a quick way to access your favorite music. Throw in a few of your friends' Listening History Feeds, a staff picks feed, and some new releases feeds and you've built a collaborative music discovery space.
So now you're probably wondering how I found all these feeds. (Or rather, how I would have found them if I didn't sit down the hall from the folks who wrote them.) After all, there aren't any orange [XML] buttons on the site. Sure, if you look at the URLs they're pretty easy to construct. But if you want a complete list, add /rss.html onto most any URL on the site and you'll see a list of feeds that are relevant to that page. For example:
- General feeds: http://www.rhapsody.com/rss.html
- Genre-related feeds: http://www.rhapsody.com/alternativepunk/electropop/rss.html
- Artist-related feeds: http://www.rhapsody.com/eminem/rss.html
- Album-related feeds: http://www.rhapsody.com/pinkfloyd/thewall/rss.html
Stay tuned. Orange [XML] buttons are coming soon...

I am not sure if this is the most appropriate place for this. But i seriously feel like i owe you one. You guys are my new heoes. I do most of my coding on linux, but i love to listen to dance music while doing that. Unfortuantely, all of those "ultimate music engines" are solely windows based. So i had to find another machine to remotely connect to, install that software if i could (or else limit myself to internet radio), and listen to the music from the remote computer. That was not any fun at all! But, now i don't have to put up with all that nonsense, you guys are truely great. They should have a statue dedicated in your honor or something.

haha, join the crowd. Being an artist, I have to own a Mac in order to get the professional programs I use most.
Rhapsody.com keeps the music I love most close to the work I do most.
Props.

Can we have some keyboard shortcuts?
Posted by: Peder Rice | April 22, 2006 at 03:23 PM
Real.
Will you please PPLLEEAASSEE make Rhapsody more compatible with the Mac. The inability to purchase tracks or *even create playlists* is really frustrating.
All my buying money goes to iTunes this way, and I'm not convinced I'm long for Rhapsody unlimited if I can't dial up a playlist.
ok-

Yes, but do you have a search feed? :)
Posted by: Chris Pirillo | May 06, 2006 at 09:56 PM
Chris forces my hand. I'm working on proper documentation, but since it's not ready yet, I'll give you a sneak preview. Sounds like you want an API that lets you send in a search query and get XML back? Something like this?
http://realsearch.real.com/search/?searchtype=RhapTrack&query=Searching+for&size=100&availability=Stream
Sorry it's not RSS-based yet. We are moving towards open standards across the board as much as we can. But we've got some legacy stuff to clean up first.

Nice... is there a way to define two search types? say...
http://realsearch.real.com/search/?searchtype1=RhapTrack&query1=Until+The+Day+I+Die&searchtype2=RhapArtist&query2=Story+Of+The+Year&size=100&availability=Stream
Would of course give back Story of the Years song, Until The Day I Die.
?
Just another one of my ideas... You MUST be sick of me by now...

That feature is coming, but the API will look a little different. More RESTful.

My friend and I have started our own small website and internet marketing the site to attract some visitors to buy products from our clients. This can really help make good money.
